ACIJ established the coalition “La Otra Trama” to address problem of organized crime in Argentina

Since the beginning of 2014, ACIJ is a member of the coalition “La otra trama” together with Fundación Avina, Foro de Periodismo Argentino,Fundación Cambio Democrático, Fundación La Alameda, Contadores Forenses y Fundación Crear Vale la Pena

La Otra Trama is a coalition of non-profit civil organizations which, through a multidisciplinary approach, seeks to coordinate joint actions regarding organized crime in Argentina. The main objective of the coalition is to bring light on the dynamics of organized crime through research, dissemination, capacity building and advocacy.

As part of the coalition’s actions, ACIJ presented the report “Organized Crime in Argentina. A democratic and human rights perspective”. The report aims to contribute to the knowledge generation on the subject, and be an input to the work of a variety of stakeholders –public and private actors and civil society- who intend to address the issue.

ACIJ also participated in the “7th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the Protocols Thereto” held in Vienna, 6-10 October 2014. La Otra Trama organized a side event on “Organized Crime in Latin America” which addressed the relations between organized crime and corruption in Latin America and its negative effects over democracy and human rights.
